The Afghan Consulate - Geneva

Geneva is one of the world’s leading diplomatic hubs—home to the United Nations Office at Geneva and many international organizations. Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission engages with multilateral diplomacy and strategic partnerships while the Embassy provides consular support for Afghans in Switzerland.

Our team works diligently to ensure that Afghan citizens in the Switzerland have access to timely, reliable, and transparent consular services.

Our responsibilities

The Consulate is responsible for:

Issuing and renewing passports

Processing Afghan visas for foreigners

Providing document attestation & legalization

Handling birth, marriage, and death registrations

Offering emergency legal and travel assistance

Supporting refugees and Afghan nationals in need

Issuing and renewing passports

Promoting Afghan cultural and educational exchange

Welcome to the website of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, and the Embassy to Switzerland. Afghanistan joined the United Nations on 19 November 1946 and has remained committed to the UN Charter. The Permanent Mission in Geneva serves as an avenue for constructive engagement with the UN system and international partners, while strengthening Afghanistan–Switzerland relations and providing consular information and services.
